Session A605 - Languages Planning

SHARE 78
March 1-6, 1992

The last session of the week for me, where the committee chairpersons and other ribbon wearers of the Languages Project do planning for the next SHARE meeting.

John Ehrman is thinking about doing a pair of workshops at the next SHARE. One of them will be entitled "The Compiler Knows, but Will Not Tell", and will talk about the things that a compiler knows about your program that does NOT appear in the compiler listing (his interest in this subject relates to our interest in promoting the SLAC mods to Assembler H). The other workshop might be titled "Multitasking - What Level of Control is Required by Applications", and will be a follow-on to the abortive multitasking session that I went to earlier in the week.

There is a possibility, indeed a probability, that David Buggs (one of the Deputy Project Managers) will split to form his own Project. Dave Weintraub keeps hinting that he'd like me to consider being a Deputy Project Manager. I keep telling him "Not just no, but Hell no..."
