We voted on JES2 requirements here, and won't know how the voting turned out until next meeting. This session started late while waiting for the session chair, and we had an unstructured questions and answers session while we waited.
An IBM'er told a cute story. Seems that way back when, when HASP first was enjoying widespread distribution (remember it was free back then), IBM would not even acknowledge its existence. After enough customers had installed it, IBM finally figured that they better put out some documentation. So... some IBMers responsible for HASP wrote up a manual.
That particular manual had some blank pages scattered throughout such that chapters would begin on odd numbered pages. Sure enough, when the manual came out Publications had thrown away the blank pages, and a number of chapters started on even pages.
This was in the days before "This page is intentionally blank" was common. When the HASPers were preparing the second version of the manual, they found themselves with blank pages again, and they decided they had better put something on the pages so that Pubs wouldn't throw them away again. So they put "HASP songs" on them: lyrics about HASP set to popular tunes. It was a good joke.
Several months passed and the manual did not appear. The HASP staff got nervous and eventually called Publications to find out what the holdup was. "It is still in Legal", they were told. "The lawyers have it? Why?" "They've spent the last couple of months trying to secure permission from the copyright holders to republish their songs".
