Jack Schudel was sick this week, and unable to chair the session. I had been anxious to see him and find out if he had left the University of Florida (he has given up maintaining the JES2 Mods Tape). Turns out that he is still at Florida, he just didn't want to do the tape anymore.
One attendee described his modification to JES2 to put more information on the $HASP165 "notify" message sent to TSO users. When the job ABENDs, the mod puts the ABEND code in the message, otherwise it inserts the maximum condition code. We could use this, if we did more TSO.
Another guy wrote a mod that interfaces with IEFAB4F4 (an obscure allocation module) to release catalogs in use by JES2. It goes around diddling with PCCB control blocks that represent catalogs. Turns out that his mod has already been obsoleted by IBM, because the new version of DFP supports taking down active catalogs.
