Let's put SCO behind bars
I am not a lawyer, but it seems unlikely to me that SCO is going to
prevail in their unethical, unsubstantiated and transparently greedy
legal attack against IBM and the Free
Software community. (Fortunately, Eben Moglen
is a lawyer, and
his analysis comes to the same conclusion, in his usual
articulate
and rigorous fashion.)
IBM has filed a countersuit appropriate to their interests. Red Hat has filed for injunctive relief, funded a war chest, and has challenged other Linux vendors to step up to the pump.
Michael D. Crawford says that IBM's and Red Hat's corporate responses are
all well and good,
but they only address the symptoms and not the cause. This kind of thing
will keep happening to us again and again until
bad things start happening to bad people. Crank up your word processors kids,
and encourage your state's Attorney General to open up a can of whoopass
on the extortionists at SCO.
